Tyler's Birthday

Make a Wish for Tyler’s Birthday

On December 19th, we invite you to remember Tyler by sharing a special wish in his memory.

Portrait of Tyler Clementi

December 19th would have been Tyler’s 26th birthday. On this occasion, we invite you — and all Upstanders — to make a wish and share it on social media.

You can also support Tyler’s legacy by spreading the word about the Tyler Clementi Foundation and taking action to end bullying.

In the spirit of Tyler's Suite "I Wish", we would like to know what you would wish for on Tyler's birthday.

I wish that every person would stop and take a moment to really look and listen at what they say and do. How words spoken can hurt but they can also lift someone up in need. Choose your words carefully. Also,Actions speak louder than words. Be kind. To yourself. And to others.

I wish that Tyler never had to endure the horrendous bullying and humiliation that led him to end his life. I wish that Tyler's story will continue to inspire many around the world to become upstanders who fight for change. I wish that Tyler's spirit lives on. He was a beautiful soul. Happy (belated) birthday Tyler.

I wish that our public schools would begin social- emotional learning programs for children and their parents beginning in preschool through high school. Compassion requires skills that need to be taught and practiced and reinforced throughout our communities.

I wish this never happened. Taken too soon. Love shall conquer hate. All should be held accountable for their "hate" and hurting of others! We need to find the root of this evil act..I wish more money would be spent on the study of the human mind, why and what causes such people to try and destroy innocent people like Tyler. I wish Tyler Happy Birthday, my heart aches for the suffering you had to endure.

Tyler inspired me to fight for change. After I read about him, I joined the LGBTIQ community and marched, signed petitions, wrote to politicians, and engaged with strangers on social media. In 2017, Australia finally legalised Marriage Equality. I thought of Tyler often that week. I wish people would be more compassionate towards people who are different.

In some ways I wish that those who bully and humiliate could switch bodies with those that bully.i wish only once they would feel the pain and suffering they cause.i know that anger is not the best way,but it angers me to the point of wanting to physically humiliate a bully in front of his peers.only then do they truly learn.i don't know, maybe sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.i for one would lay down my life in the name of protecting those who do not know how to defend and cope with this problem.i also wish that we start a tidal wave of awareness so strong that it suffocates all thought of bullying and humiliation forever more.

My wish is that people think before they act and speak, that they are kinder to one another, so that wonderful people like Tyler won't feel that they aren't worthy, so that we won't have tragic losses of this kind, and so that we don't need to be activists for something that should be just basic human decency, love and respect. Dear Tyler; you will never be forgotten.
