PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) – October is National Bullying Prevention month and a national foundation, inspired by a cyberbullied Rutgers University student who took his own life, is working to help teens across the country take a stand against bullying.
The Tyler Clementi Foundation is asking students across the country to take the Upstander’s Pledgeto end bullying everywhere.
In 2010, Clementi at the age of 18, became a victim of persistent bullying and cyber-harassment by his college roommate while attending Rutgers University. The roommate secretly live streamed Clementi and another man in a sexual encounter. Clementi jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge.
