Foundation named after cyberbullied Rutgers student helps teens take a stand

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)  – October is National Bullying Prevention month and a national foundation, inspired by a cyberbullied Rutgers University student who took his own life, is working to help teens across the country take a stand against bullying.

The Tyler Clementi Foundation is asking students across the country to take the Upstander’s Pledgeto end bullying everywhere. 

In 2010, Clementi at the age of 18, became a victim of  persistent bullying and cyber-harassment by his college roommate while attending Rutgers University. The roommate secretly live streamed Clementi and another man in a sexual encounter. Clementi jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge.
