We Are Hiring: Program Manager

Organizational Overview

The Tyler Clementi Foundation (TCF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Joseph and Jane Clementi to end bullying through inclusion, assertion of dignity, and acceptance, in order to honor the memory of Tyler: a son, a brother, and a friend. Its mission is to end online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces, and faith communities.

In 2010, Tyler’s death became a global news story, highlighting the impact and consequences of bullying, harassment, and humiliation, while sparking a dialogue among parents, teachers, and students across the country. Tyler’s story also linked to broader issues affecting youth and families such as LGBTQ inequality, safety in schools, youth in crisis, higher education support systems, and cyberbullying.

Through free programs like the Upstander Pledge, #Day1, the Upstander Speaker Series, and Tyler’s Suite, TCF empowers individuals and groups to take a stand against bullying and to create safe spaces where individuals embrace diversity.

The Position

TCF is seeking its first, full-time Program Manager to lead strategic growth and evaluation of its programs and services focused on public education and bullying prevention.

With support and oversight from the Executive Director, the Program Manager will be responsible for outreach, administration, and evaluation of the following programs:

  • Upstander Pledge
  • #Day1 Bullying-prevention Toolkits
  • Upstander Speaker Series
  • Workplace Training

While TCF’s programs related to religious-based bullying and state and federal policy advocacy are led by other team members, the Program Manager will also help the Executive Director and other staff to strategically plan, coordinate, measure, and evaluate the goals, activities, and outcomes of programs across the agency. Further developing TCFs theory of change and implementing a continuous quality improvement (CQI) system will be critical to the success of this position and to acquiring the resource necessary for the organization to continue to grow.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with primary, secondary, and higher education, anti-bullying initiatives, LGBTQ issues, racial and gender inequality, grassroots advocacy, and mental health systems. She/He/They should have a collaborative and transparent approach that balances creating a team environment in a small organization with shared workspace and working within the hierarchy of the staff and Board of Trustees. All candidates should have strong presentation skills and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with master’s degree preferred, in education, social work, mental health, public health, public administrations and/or related field in social/behavioral sciences
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in program development, facilitation, or management in a mission-driven, nonprofit or academic environment
  • Demonstrable background of growing and evaluating programs;
  • Strong organizational skills including planning, program development, and task facilitation, as well as budget/grant/contract management skills;
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills and ability to make impactful connections with a wide range of constituencies;
  • Experience working effectively and collaboratively with staff and volunteers is strongly desired.

Monday through Friday, with flexibility to accommodate early and evening weekday hours and occasional weekend hours. There will be some travel within and outside of New York State.
