Boy, those tween and teen years are rough!

You think about how hard it was before the internet and now theres cyberbullying and so much more to deal with. Its clear that when 28% of youth in grades 6-12 have been bullied and 70% have witnessed bullying (according to stopbullying.gov) that something needs to be done to put an end to this. Youth affected by bullying have poorer grades along with higher rates of absence, depression, illness, and drug use. The root issues of what affects youth is based in bullying behaviors.

The #Day1 campaign has been used effectively in middle and high schools all over the country as a tool to ensure that tweens and teens know how to make smart choices when interacting with each other. Youth who have been through the #Day1 program understand that bullying is not going to be tolerated by peers or administration- that makes a big difference. #Day1 supports not only those directly affected by bullying, but the youth who experience it as a bystander. #Day1 specifically supports turning bystanders into upstanders- which has a positive impact on bullying in schools. When everyone knows what is expected of them, its much easier for everyone to work to keep people accountable for their actions. #Day1 helps teach youth how to be compassionate people.

This is why you should stand up to bullying on #Day1. Download your free Toolkit to help you establish a space free from hostility and accepting of diversity. Learn more about #Day1 and why it works!
