HONORING

Wednesday, October 23, 2019           6 – 9 PM

Stage 48, 605 West 48th Street, New York, NY  10036

The Tyler Clementi Foundation’s Upstander Legacy Gala is a festive and fabulous evening dedicated to celebrating our work to end online and offline bullying as we name two champions of our work as our 2019 Upstanders! (You can see photos from 2018 here!) We’ll be in a new venue (Stage 48, 605 W. 48th Street in New York City) with amazing food and beverage options and look forward to announcing how far we’ve come since last year’s launch of the Million Upstander Movement!

INDIVIDUAL UPSTANDER AWARD

David Mixner is an internationally respected activist and best selling author.  He is best known for his work in anti-war and LGBTQ+ advocacy efforts, was a core organizer of the 1967 March on the Pentagon, the Moratorium on the Vietnam War, and was one of the founders of the Metropolitan Elections Committee of LA (MECLA), recognized as the nations’ first LGBTQ+ Political Action Committee.  David mobilized LGBTQ+ political fundraising around the 1992 Presidential Campaign of one of his best friends, Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton, and is legendary for standing up to his friend during the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy furor..

CORPORATE UPSTANDER AWARD

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, which for thirty years has followed a professional design and experience ethic of “Comfort for All,” applies that ethos not only to their products, but also to their world.  As corporate citizens, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has been an incredible supporter of organizations that lift and protect the dignity of so many different people, including the Human Rights Campaign, Exodus Homes, The Montrose Center’s LGBTQ Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund, Faith in America, and the Tyler Clementi Foundation, among many others.

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams will receive their award from our 2018 Honoree, advocate, artist and philanthropist and former Second Lady of the United States, Tipper Gore.
Broadway, film and television star Bryan Batt will be presenting the Upstander Award to David Mixner.
