As an African American man in this country and in our Church, I know what it means to be estranged and marginalized by my own society. My heart goes out and my prayers are lifted for anyone and everyone who suffers the same treatment, especially within our Christian community. I greatly thank and applaud our bishops who have the courage to offer such a statement to the entire Catholic faithful.
